Maureen O'Sullivan was born in Ireland in 1911. After attending schools in Dublin, England & France, she moved to Hollywood in 1930 to begin her film career. After appearing in 6 movies for 20th Century Fox, in 1932 she signed a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, starring in several major films over the next ten years. But she became best known for her role as Jane in six films starring Johnny Weismuller as "Tarzan ".

This painting was completed in 1941, as Maureen was 30 years old and a true movie star of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

This painting is from the estate of her second husband, James E. Cushing, whose obituary is included, along with a copy of a photograph with Maureen posed under the portrait wearing the name outfit and a biography of the painter, Cathleen Mann.
