Based on the Edan Hughes biography, he was born in Michigan, January 5, 1903, moved to Los Angeles in 1919, died there November 29, 1949. He participated in the artists fiesta in Los Angeles in September, 1931, where this image may have been painted. This area is known as the birthplace of Los Angeles. Botsford was a commercial artist and printmaker, known for his watercolor paintings.
