A rare seminal work by William, (Bill) Howell, a young artist that was involved in major exhibitions of African-American artists from the late 1960's until his untimely death in 1975 from diabetes. His work was included in the break through exhibition, " Afro-American Artists: New York & Boston ", 1970, that included all the major known and up and coming artists of the day, including Hughie-Lee Smith, Romare Bearden, Dana Chandler, Eldzier Cortor, Norman Lewis, and a host of others. A catalogue of this exhibition will accompany the painting.
He was a master on mixed media on canvas, adding collage elements to his oil paintings.
