Born in London in 1885 (or possibly 1878), William Edward Powell was an English artist who specialized in depicting hunting and fishing scenes. He was mainly self-taught and his work was featured in calendars. During World War I, he enlisted in the Mesopotamian campaign and was recognized for his bravery with several awards. Unfortunately, he lost both of his legs in the war, but continued creating art while propped up in bed.
