Artist Biography:

Zdeněk Kleindienst, Czech painter and graphic artist, was born on June 12, 1927 in Nové Strašecí. He studied at the State School of Graphics in Prague, where he was a student of professors K. Muller and P. Dillinger. In 1958, he became a member of the Union of Visual Artists. Kleindienst's works were exhibited not only in the Czech Republic (e.g. in Prague, Ostrava, Rakovník), but also abroad, including cities such as Paris, Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne n.R., Bruges, Hagg, Utrecht and many others.

Representations can be found in many private collections at home and abroad, as well as in the collections of the National Gallery, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture. Kleindienst did not limit himself to painting pictures; he also drew graphics (creating logos, posters, diplomas) and illustrations for magazines, newspapers, and books. He was also a member of the art group EXPLOSIA MANES.

The rapid rhythm of contemporary life inspired Kleindienst to create works in which he tried to ask questions of a generally human nature. His works often reflected the current state of the world, which carries us forward with a metronome of seconds, signals of departures and arrivals. The pictures, drawings and canvases of Zdenek Kleindienst represent the great theater of the world, in which there are no spectators without interest. His works contain symbolism of human destinies, although they are often shaped as cheerful pierots and mime figures.

Zdeněk Kleindienst died on January 18, 2012, in Prague.
